A Patent Attorney

We’re looking for

Ready for a change?

Come and join us in Norway

Stavanger or Oslo, it's up to you

Our company has two offices: our headquarters in Stavanger, on the west coast Norway, and our latest addition in the heart of Oslo, the capital. It’s fine if you’re not sure which city would suit you best – we can have a chat so you can make an informed decision before you apply.

Work environment

Our head office in Stavanger is part of a new business park to the south of the city with communal facilities including a 24/7 gym. Most attorneys prefer to do the short commute into the office each day to meet colleagues and have a laugh over lunch in our shared canteen.

In Oslo, we’re part of a shared co-working space right by the Court House. We each have our own individual offices, and, like Stavanger, take our company-sponsored lunch together everyday.

Of course, we understand that working from home can be beneficial from time to time, and so we can be flexible when needed.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual who thrives when exposed to new challenges and is motivated to contribute in a variety of ways.

Ideally, you’d have an electronics, IT, or engineering technical background, at least three years of experience in IP, and be newly-qualified or nearing qualification before a national office or the EPO. If you have a different technical background, are at a different stage in your career, or are new to the profession, that’s okay too.

You’ll have responsibility working directly with our clients who range from local startups through to SMEs and large multinationals, and so strong interpersonal skills are also highly valued.

Our approach

Our firm blends fresh leadership with a rich history. In 2019, we transitioned from being family-owned (since 1950) to a partnership model, currently having seven equity partners and one associate partner. Our attorneys cover six nationalities, three of whom are from the UK.

We also take a different approach to performance assessment than you might be used to.

At Håmsø, we focus on our collective progress as a team instead of individual billing metrics. This makes for a more varied and interesting work life, as well as a more relaxed atmosphere. Through experience, we’ve found that taking such an approach allows us to consistently deliver top-quality services at competitive prices for our clients.

So, what do you think?
If this sounds like a bit of you, we’d love to have a chat
