Rob Valkass
Patent Advisor
Employed since 2024.
Before joining Håmsø, Rob spent nearly eight years as a patent examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office. Rob was responsible for searching and examining applications in several areas of technology, focusing on business methods, blockchain, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other computer-implemented inventions.
Alongside helping applicants of all sizes navigate the patent process, Rob has worked with several national intellectual property offices on harmonisation and quality improvement projects and to deliver training.
Rob has a PhD in Physics from the University of Exeter, during which he worked in partnership with a global technology firm to understand and develop magnetic data storage devices and spintronic materials. Rob also holds a Post-graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of South Wales, for which he was awarded a distinction.
